What to expect
Our Wonders of Sri Lanka private journey is the ideal introduction to the delights of the island taking in many of Sri Lanka’s charms. Explore the capital, Colombo with a local on a guided walk, journey to the Cultural Triangle to discover ancient cities and explore significant cultural monuments, stay in an architecturally important eco hotel while in the south east go on safari in search of a wildlife encounter in Yala National Park before ending your journey spending relaxing days on a palm fringed golden sandy beach.
Your Journey Begins
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport where a Wildlife Safari representative will warmly welcome you and escort you by private vehicle to your heritage hotel in Colombo.
Overnight – Galle Face Hotel
Today meet up with your local guide for a walk through cosmopolitan Colombo a vibrant city also retains its heritage and charm with the historic fort area, colonial buildings, and bustling Pettah Bazaar crammed with a variety of shops and market stalls.

After breakfast drive north to the renowned Cultural Triangle. Continue on the road to Kandalama, to arrive at the iconic Geoffrey Bawa designed eco hotel by an ancient reservoir located between two significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Overnight – Heritance Kandalama
Up early to visit the dramatic Sigiriya Rock Fortress built during the reign of King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. The rock citadel rises from the jungle and the climb to the summit offers extraordinary views. Admire the Heavenly Maiden frescoes and Mirror Wall with its ancient graffiti, continue to the Lion Paws to reach the summit and ancient ruins of the palace complex. In the afternoon travel to Polonnaruwa, the royal medieval capital from 1073 century to explore the ancient ruins and admire the significant statues of Buddha carved from massive slabs of granite.
Overnight – Heritance Kandalama
Depart for Dambulla, a UNESCO world heritage site, the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka containing religious frescoes and carved colourful statues. Continue along the spice route to Matale to visit a spice farm to see spices growing and learn about the flavours of Sri Lanka cuisine. Continue south to the scenic town of Kandy to visit the island’s most revered Buddhist relic in the golden roofed Temple of the Tooth.
Overnight – Elephant Stables
Up early leaving Kandy to take the long road journey along winding scenic roads towards Yala, and the national park in the south east of the island.
Overnight – Jetwing Yala
Today you will experience early morning and afternoon game viewing private jeep drives in the wildlife park in search of elephant, boar, buffalo, leopard, sloth bear, deer and crocodile. Yala is recognised as an outstanding location for a possible encounter of the elusive leopard.
Overnight – Jetwing Yala
After a leisurely breakfast travel the coastal road driving towards the west coast of the island to arrive at the beachside village resort of Kalutara.

Day at leisure to relax beside the pool and enjoy the many facilities and amenities of your resort.

Today your chauffeur guide will transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
