Journey Overview

Take it slow, travel slow and stay longer in special places on our Slow Safari.  Our custom designed Slow Safari travels at a leisurely pace allowing time to adjust to a more relaxed style of safari by staying longer in one exceptional wildlife spot to unwind and observe with more safari time before moving on. Venture to the magnificent malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve for unhurried days of game viewing, travelling to the incredibly scenic Marataba Private Reserve to go slow on a guided walking safari before flying into an iconic private concession in the legendary Sabi Sands Game Reserve for even more slow days of exceptional wildlife encounters.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01
Madikwe Game Reserve

Arrive in Johannesburg where a Wildlife Safari representative will warmly welcome you and escort you to the terminal for your light aircraft flight to the private Madikwe Game Reserve tucked against the border with Botswana.

Overnight – Madikwe Safari Lodge

Day 02 to Day 05
Madikwe Game Reserve

Each day on safari is enjoyed travelling across vast tracks of bush, along endless dirt roads and wide open spaces on morning and afternoon game viewing drives with your experienced naturalist guide and tracker. Supporting a broad range of wildlife, Madikwe is home to the Big Five as well as white rhino, cheetah, and the elusive African wild dog.

Day 06
Marakele National Park

Depart by private vehicle on the drive to Marataba Private Reserve lying within the Marakele National Park, a remote wilderness of open plains, mountains and valleys. A less discovered gem with a focus on walking safaris the private reserve will deliver one of the most scenic safari experiences.

Overnight – Marataba Safari Lodge

Day 07 & Day 08
Marakele National Park

Days are spent in the remote outpost in the company of specialist walking guides, and cruising the Matiabas River on a water safari for brilliant waterbird sightings and game viewing drives with a professional guide.

Day 09
Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Depart and transfer by lodge vehicle to the Marakele Airstrip for your light aircraft to Johannesburg to connect with your flight to Skukuza Airport. On landing you will be met by a lodge guide and enjoy a leisurely game viewing drive as you travel to your lodge.

Overnight – Lions Sands River Lodge

Day 10 & Day 11
Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Spend your days on morning and afternoon game viewing drives with your experienced naturalist guide and tracker in the impressive Sabi Sands.

Overnight – Lion Sands River Lodge

Day 12
Depart South Africa

Transfer by lodge vehicle to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
