What to expect
Explore Sri Lanka private journey offers a fascinating insight to this delightful tear drop shaped island taking in many highlights of a remarkable tropical island. Starting in the north and travelling to ancient cities and monuments, across to the east coast with its brilliant white beaches and aquamarine waters, to the tropical jungles with its rich wildlife, to the golden beaches on the south coast before ending in the Dutch built fort to explore its heritage residences along narrow lanes.
Your Journey Begins
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport where a Wildlife Safari representative will warmly welcome you and escort you by private vehicle to your heritage hotel in Colombo.
Overnight – Lake Lodge
Today meet up with your local guide for a walk. A vibrant city Colombo also retains its charm with the historic fort area, colonial buildings, and bustling Pettah Bazaar crammed with a variety of shops and market stalls.
Overnight – Uga Residence
After a leisurely breakfast depart on your journey heading north to the Cultural Triangle to explore Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Ceylon. Continue to your resort style hotel, formerly the ancestral estate of local nobility surround by rice paddy and lush tropical jungle.
Overnight – Uga Ulagalla
Up early to drive to Wilpattu, Sri Lanka’s largest national park in the north of Puttalam to take a game viewing drive by private safari jeep. The thick dry zone jungle is dotted with flood plain lakes and offers an impressive variety of flora and wildlife including deer, elephant, wild boar, sloth bear and a possible encounter of the elusive leopard.
Overnight – Uga Ulagalla
Up early to visit the dramatic Sigiriya Rock Fortress built during the reign of King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. The rock citadel rises from the jungle and the climb to the summit offers extraordinary views. Admire the Heavenly Maiden frescoes and Mirror Wall with its ancient graffiti, continue to the Lion Paws to reach the summit and ancient ruins of the palace complex. Continue the journey on a drive to the east coast heading to Batticaloa and your spectacularly situated resort in the middle of Passikudah Bay.
Overnight – Uga Bay
Day at leisure to lounge on a white sandy beach, relax by the pool or venture out on one of the resort’s bikes and explore the local village.

After breakfast set off for the south east coast travelling a scenic route to Yala, Sri Lanka’s National Park bordering the coast and the Indian Ocean for a late afternoon arrival at the luxurious Chena Huts.

Enjoy an early morning game drive by lodge safari jeep in the wildlife sanctuary, home to elephant, boar, buffalo, leopard, sloth bear, deer and crocodile. Yala is acknowledged as the outstanding location for a possible encounter of the elusive leopard.

After breakfast travel along the picturesque coast to reach your beach resort sitting on a rocky outcrop overlooking a sweeping beach and the Indian Ocean.

Day to enjoy the many facilities at your resort or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

After breakfast depart on a scenic drive to the southern edge of Sri Lanka’s coast heading to Galle Fort and your boutique hotel situated inside the walls of the fort.
Overnight – Fort Bazaar
A morning of discovery to learn about the history of Galle Fort on a leisurely walk with a local guide. Your guide will reveal the legacy of the rampart walls, historical mansions and the lighthouse each significant hallmarks in the UNESCO heritage listed fort. Return to your hotel or continue on your own walking adventure exploring the numerous boutiques, cafes and jewellery stores.
Overnight – Fort Bazaar
Today your chauffeur guide will transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
