Journey Overview

Rajasthan the largest and most geographically diverse state in India is the land of kings, maharajas, heritage and colour. India’s vast empires and royal history left a legacy of incredible architecture of extraordinary forts, temples and splendid palaces. Our grand journey begins in Delhi, moves to Agra through the royal state with stays in some of India’s historical and opulent palaces and glamorous boutique hotels travelling at a leisurely pace with your personal driver. Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01
Delhi

Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport where a Wildlife Safari representative will meet you with a warm welcome and escort you by private vehicle to your hotel. Delhi, the capital of India, is the essence of modern India with its startling contrasts between the old and new.

Overnight – The Connaught New Delhi – IHCL SeleQtions

Day 02
Delhi

Set out on a day of private sightseeing to explore magnificent Mughal architecture and discover the sights of this vibrant city. Starting in Old Delhi visit the impressive Jama Masjid before taking a rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk. Continue to New Delhi, built by the British, past the Parliament Buildings, India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb and Birla House.

Day 03
Agra

Up early and depart for the majestic city of Agra. Visit the expansive sandstone Agra Fort, where Shah Jahan spent years of confinement at the hands of his son Aurangzeb. Continue to Mehtab Bagh, the Charbagh complex on the other side of the Yamuna River which is perfectly aligned with the Taj Mahal.

Overnight – The Oberoi Amarvilas

Day 04
Jaipur

Up early for a memorable sunrise viewing of the Taj Mahal as the sun’s rays illuminate the white marble monument. Return to your hotel for a leisurely breakfast and continue with your driver for Jaipur, the Pink City, named for its rose pink lime wash that coats the city walls, various buildings, and temples.

Day 05
Jaipur

After breakfast meet with your guide for private sightseeing. Travel past the legendary Hawa Mahal and continue to the pink sandstone Amber Fort to admire the Palace of Mirrors, Audience Halls with the beautiful Mughal gardens providing a glimpse to the opulence of the past.

Day 06
Jaipur

This morning with your guide visit Jantar Mantar, the open air astronomical Observatory and UNESCO World Heritage Site, an exceptional example of architectural genius. Continue to the 18th century City Palace Museum with its multitude of rooms extravagantly filled with decorative mirrors, exquisite tiles, mosaics, paintings and vast collection of artefacts.

Day 07
Jodhpur

After breakfast set off with your driver to Jodhpur, the Blue City. Experience the ancient capital of the kingdom of Marwar from your sleek boutique hotel positioned directly below the imposing 15th century Mehrangarh Fort.

Day 08
Jodhpur

Set off on a private sightseeing adventure with your guide on a walk through the tangle of narrow crowded lanes in the old town observing locals busy with daily life.

Day 09
Jodhpur

Today with your guide visit the magnificent Jaswant Thada and continue to the significant and impressive Mehrangarh Fort, the towering fort that looms over the old city.

Day 10
Narlai

A leisurely day of road travel with your driver arriving in the village of Narlai, for a stay in the former hunting lodge of the Maharajah of Jodhpur.

Day 11
Narlai

This morning meet your lodge guide to explore the village of Narlai. You may decide to go on a guided walk to the nearby dam, visit the rock temple or climb the 700 steps to the summit of Elephant Hill for panoramic views.

Day 12
Udaipur

After breakfast depart with your driver for the city of Udaipur. On the way make a stop to visit Ranakpur, a significant 15th century Jain Temple. Continue to Udaipur, the city of lakes founded by Maharana Udai Singh II, renowned for its lavish royal residences to stay in a most exceptional lake hotel.

Overnight – Taj Lake Palace Hotel

Day 13
Udaipur

After breakfast take the palace’s private boat across the lake with your guide on a private walk. Explore the vast City Palace, overlooking Lake Pichola, a monumental complex of eleven palaces, courtyards and gardens, renowned for its intricate peacock mosaics.

Overnight – Taj Lake Palace Hotel

Day 14
Depart India

Transfer by private vehicle to Udaipur Domestic Airport for your domestic flight to Delhi and your onward travel arrangements.
