Zambia, a land locked Southern African country, is a relatively undiscovered destination for tourism and remains one of the region’s least explored yet most rewarding destinations. Tourism is rapidly maturing as luxury tented camps and safari lodges are being established in numerous National Parks along with a network of connecting domestic flights. Zambia’s best known attraction is the mighty Victoria Falls, locals call it Mosi-oa-Tunya meaning the smoke that thunders, is the world’s largest by volume of water. There is a huge choice of sightseeing excursions and exhilarating activities to view The Falls from above and below. The Zimbabwe and Zambia border bisects the Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls. While there are many opinions as to which side offers the better views of the thundering Victoria Falls, the infrastructure and facilities on the Zambia side are excellent with a selection of intimate safari lodges and resort hotels dotted along the Zambezi River upstream from the Falls.
Zambia’s major wildlife sanctuaries, South Luangwa, Kafue and Lower Zambezi, maintain excellent wildlife populations with an impressive diversity of animal species and the sanctuaries are linked by light aircraft as driving is not practical due to the distances and road conditions.
Safari camps in Zambia are small and intimate and camp guides provide a personal wildlife experience with game viewing by open vehicle, on foot or by boat on the Zambezi River with some unique opportunities like the thrill of night game viewing in search of a lion or elusive leopard on the hunt.
